What is a Kinesiologist?
Kinesiologists are movement and exercise specialists that focus on injury based reconditioning. They are a critical part of the rehabilitation team at COAST and a great compliment to many treatments that we offer, such as Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Massage. Kinesiologists will help you rehabilitate from injury or surgery and build a stronger, more resilient body.
A Kinesiologist is a healthcare professional that focuses on preventative health through movement and exercises. Kinesiologists work one on one with clients and can address a multitude of needs. They can help clients achieve fitness goals, work closely with athletes and play an important role as part of a rehabilitation team.
What To Expect
An appointment with a Kinesiologists is usually an hour. During this time, they will work with you to create an exercised focused treatment plan to help you with your rehabilitation program or fitness goals. Working with a Kinesiologist will help you build long-term resilience to avoid future injury.
Who Should See A Kinesiologist
Often patients will be referred to see a Kinesiologist by another healthcare professional such as a Physiotherapist or Chiropractor or through their motor vehicle insurance rehab program (ICBC) as part of their active rehabilitation program. The Kinesiologist will focus on rebuilding strength, addressing muscle imbalances, and correcting mechanics.
Many clients also look to Kinesiologists as personal trainers to help prevent injuries and improve their fitness. Kinesiologist will have the knowledge to help safely and effectively train athletes and fitness clients.
