COAST is now proud to offer a new, state of the art treatment. We are pleased to include Shockwave Therapy as part of our treatment programs at our COAST x Revive clinic in North Vancouver.
How Does Shockwave Work?
Shockwave therapy is a relatively painless, noninvasive procedure that stimulates the body’s own immune response. It is able to speed up the body’s healing process and reduce pain by delivering strong energy pulses. This stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing.
Overall, Shockwave therapy is a safe treatment with no side effects. It can help to avoid more invasive procedures such as surgery, which has long recovery times and risk of complications.
Which Injuries Would Benefit From Shockwave?
First and foremost, Shockwave has proven to be an effective treatment for calcification. Calcification occurs when there is a build up of calcium deposits in the soft tissue, such as a tendon. This can occur as a result of an injury. Calcification can be diagnosed with the help of your physician and/or a rehab specialist such as a Physiotherapist or Chiropractor.
Shockwave has also been shown to help treat:
Tendinopathies of the shoulder, Achilles, elbow and knee
Plantar fasciitis
Bone spurs
Frozen Shoulder/ Adhesive capsulitis
Muscle trigger points
If you think Shockwave Therapy is right for you, speak with your doctor or book an appointment with one of our rehab specialists for more information. In order to receive the full benefits of your Shockwave treatment, you can expect between 3-6 visits spread out over weekly visits.
